From Payroll Pain Point to Forbes 30 Under 30: Furqan Karim Kidwai’s Plouton AI

Muhammad Furqan Karim Kidwai’s path to founding Plouton AI began with a practical frustration rather than a grand thesis. While running a consultancy with more than 100 members alongside co-founder Sarfraz Shahid Hussain, Kidwai found that complex payroll processing and final settlement calculations for a high-turnover workforce were eating up disproportionate amounts of time. Discovering the problem was widespread across finance teams in emerging markets — many of which still lean heavily on spreadsheets and email rather than proper systems — the pair founded Plouton AI to automate those workflows directly.

A Karachi-born computer science graduate of Habib University who completed data science coursework at Stanford, Kidwai brings a background that spans both entrepreneurship and traditional finance: he previously co-founded YPay Financial Services, a Pakistani investech app aimed at simplifying investment management for millennials, and worked as a Risk Advisory Analyst at Deloitte on expected-credit-loss models for financial institutions. He has also served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Antler and a startup mentor with the Founder Institute.

As Co-Founder and CEO, Kidwai has positioned Plouton AI, now Singapore-based and backed by Antler, as an agentic automation platform that deploys browser-based AI “virtual employees” to handle finance operations — invoicing, payroll, month-end financial close, and settlement calculations — without requiring companies to rip out existing tools like Xero, QuickBooks, or Excel. The company emphasizes compliance-first design and auditable outputs, a focus Kidwai has said comes directly from his and Hussain’s prior experience building and exiting a regulated fintech.

That work earned Kidwai a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2026 list in the Finance and Venture Capital category, one of seven Pakistanis recognized that year, selected from nearly 4,000 nominations across 18 countries. For Kidwai, the recognition marks a milestone in a broader mission: closing the gap between how mid-market finance teams actually operate and the automation tools built for far larger enterprises.
