Winston Weinberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Harvey, is at the center of one of the biggest transformations the legal industry has seen in decades. Before founding Harvey, Weinberg worked as an associate at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, specializing in securities and antitrust litigation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Kenyon College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
Harvey’s origin story began with a simple experiment. In 2022, Weinberg — then a first-year law associate — and his roommate Gabriel Pereyra, a researcher who had worked at Google DeepMind and Meta, tested GPT-3 on real landlord-tenant law questions sourced from Reddit. When they showed the AI-generated answers to practicing attorneys, two out of three lawyers said they would send the vast majority of the responses without any edits. That result gave them the conviction to found Harvey in July 2022, before ChatGPT had even launched.
Despite early skepticism that framed Harvey as merely a “wrapper” on top of foundation models, Weinberg and his team took a customer-first approach, building deep workflows for law firms and corporate legal teams. That strategy has paid off: Harvey now counts more than 1,000 clients across 60 countries, including a majority of the top 10 U.S. law firms, and surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue in 2025. Harvey’s rapid growth has been matched by equally rapid fundraising, with the company closing an $8 billion valuation round led by Andreessen Horowitz in late 2025 — just months after previous rounds at $3 billion and $5 billion. Weinberg was named to Forbes’ 2024 “30 Under 30” list for Enterprise Technology, and continues to lead Harvey’s expansion, including its recent acquisition of the startup Hexus.
